The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has dismissed as fake a viral social media poster claiming the commission is recruiting 12,632 teachers to replace those who exited the service.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, June 30, TSC warned members of the public against relying on the circulating advertisement, insisting it had not announced any such recruitment exercise.
The commission urged job seekers to ignore the poster and obtain recruitment information only through its official communication channels.

TSC urged job seekers to ignore fake recruitment notices and verify all employment opportunities through its official communication channels only.
TSC Warns Public Against Fake Recruitment Notice
According to TSC, the viral notice falsely claims the commission is recruiting teachers for primary, junior and senior secondary schools to replace staff who left the service due to unavoidable circumstances.
The fake advertisement also alleges that applications close on July 20, 2026, and directs applicants to submit their applications through the commission's website. However, TSC clarified that it has not advertised any recruitment for permanent and pensionable teachers.
"Please be aware that the above circulating information on this poster is fake," the commission stated.
The commission further warned the public against falling victim to fraudsters who often exploit fake recruitment advertisements to scam unsuspecting job seekers.
Fake notice cites thousands of non-existent vacancies
The fake advertisement claims TSC is recruiting 8,400 teachers for primary schools, 4,200 for senior schools, and 32 academic positions, while outlining fabricated eligibility requirements and application procedures.
TSC has distanced itself from the document, maintaining that no such recruitment exercise is currently underway.
The commission advised teachers and prospective applicants to verify all vacancies through its official website and verified communication platforms before submitting any applications.
Recruitment plans remain separate
The clarification comes only days after President William Ruto announced that the government plans to recruit 24,000 teachers during the current financial year.
According to the President, the teachers will initially be employed on contract terms before transitioning to permanent and pensionable employment. He also announced that nearly 20,000 teachers currently serving on contract will be confirmed to permanent and pensionable terms beginning July 1.
Despite those government plans, TSC emphasised that no recruitment advertisement has been released yet, urging the public to remain vigilant against fake notices and recruitment scams circulating online.
