Admission requirements: The following shall be eligible: (i) h olders of a Bachelor's degree of the University of Nairobi or any other equivalent institution recognized by Senate with at least an Upper Second Class Honours. (ii) h olders of a Bachelor's degree of Lower Second Class Honour s of the University of Nairobi or any other equivalent institution recognized by Senate with at least 2 years work experience in population or development related field or with a postgraduate diploma in population related field. (iii) h olders of a pass degree of the University of Nairobi or any other equivalent institution recognized by Senate with at least five year of work experience in a population or development related field or with a postgraduate diploma in population related field. Structure: The degree program has two options: Option 1: Course work, Examination and Research Project, Option 2: Coursework , Examination and Thesis Option 1: Coursework, Examination and Research Project 4.1.1 Duration and Structure (i) The programme shall be covered in a minimum of four semesters and a maximum of ten semesters. (ii) Each semester will be 15 weeks and there will be 2 semesters in a calendar year. (iii) The total number of courses to be taken shall be 13 of which 1 0 will be core and 3 elective. (iv) Each course unit shall have forty five (45contact hours and shall be covered within a semester). (v) After completion of all the 13 co urses, the student will be expected to complete a research project (vi) The research project is equivalent to 4 course units.
